So every month we give you a work shop either at the Bonita-Sunnyside Library, generally 1st Saturday afternoons 1 to 4pm or Lemon Grove Library on 3rd Wednesday, evening 6 to 8 pm.. Randy does a Breaking Brick Walls event once a month on 2nd Wednesdays. 12 to 2 pm, CVL on 4th. We do all this for free.
We are a service orientated organization. So when our funds were built up we opted to start funding small Scholarships for the Sweetwater Union High School District Seniors.
The Scholarships have grown from a $75. to $500 and some times two of them or something in between. The money we make at our Seminar is what is put towards the scholarship or scholarships.
Many are not sure a Seminar is worth the $45 member or $50 non member fees.
I am sharing with you that many places charge $45 for one hour and some charge as much as $90 for an hour of information.
Personally having never gone to a Seminar and not come home with a good bit of new ideas and plans for research. I believe in Seminars.
The one planned has four topics. The going rate being from $45 to $90 a talk that would be $360. at the high end and $180 at the lower end. Plated hot meal $20. Not having to juggle food, cane, drink etc makes it an excellent meal.
We are only charging $45 for members and $50 for non members. You can also join our society and get our newsletter and all the information from our workshop events and not live here. Many places do not have Genealogical or Historical Groups and some are very minimalistic. Our dues are very reasonable.
We have moved from everything manual to Wild Apricot for help on events etc. You can post questions and learn of coming events way ahead with this feature.
Taking $180 + dinner and deduct your fee and you are getting more than half price off the fee for attending a multi Seminar.
Here is hoping you will sign up to learn about Italian, Scottish, German and the Ancestral Migrating Patterns to find Church Records.
