CVGS Picnic Was a Nice Event. Thanks to all whom made it so Great.

Picnic in a Patio beats a park. The food was very delightful. Hope we do more of them. Thanks Sam and Terri Seat. Hoping others had a great time sharing the match game. Seems it made the brain work a bit after food in the body. Food o yes very good, Braut was excellent, the burgers and Hot dogs looked good too. Just do not get a Braut often. That. Krauat with Bacon was so good. I truly ate or tasted nothing that did not have a yummy flavor. I couple of dishes I wanted to find whom made them and didn't get that lucky. Everything was good. The company, the environment, and the food and people. COOKIES yes COOKIES, they were talked about by everyone from when I first stepped in the door. I finally got a taste after I took a couple home for hubby. The Lemon cookie was very flavorful. But I loved that mixed chocochip nut mixtured one the best. Bottom Line everything was GREAT. Thanks again CVGS.

Researching of Today. and the Changes we are Learning

Today we had a DNA Meeeting with our DNA leader. It was heavy, intense and not what I expected. Having said that I will explain some of my feelings. DNA is still growing and changing and becoming more in depth. As Genealogists should we be following this lineage of research? Or should we be working on the tree then when the DNA is more stable for finite research, use it? Having the appreciation of what I have learned and been able to discover in my parents trees. To confirm a couple of family stories as fact was the frosting on top. To learn a Great Uncle whom I dearly loved had his tree done. Did not want to learn what it said and burnt it. WE had a long chat about that when I went to Wyoming to visit much family with my parents and help drive. I still have not run down the Indian that was in the tree and if they found it in the 1960's it should be able to be found today. His thoughts on Indians were muddled. He said he loved me and having Indian heritage did not make me someone he did not want to know and love. Mom said when he lost his son he sorta adopted me as the replacement. That side of family was closer in age than many families but we did have others that were closer. Finding DNA a terrific topic and have followed it in Archeology before I got into Genealogy I think gave me a step up in grasping it. 4-H and FFA projects teach DNA for your animals also for showing and displaying. The topic today left me wondering if we should do our research or just wait til the government has it all figured out. Having many names I have not even cracked the book on, the intense of topic left me wondering about what names do you choose to research besides immediate parents. Then you have the medically needed data in some lineages. Today DNA is being used and followed by various Medical Personel to help families conquer ailments. It has shown many strides in the improvement of many lives. It has already helped in my family line and husbands regarding medical. Just heavy thoughts on the entensity of yesterdays Meeting.

Bonita- Sunnyside Library Meeting Today 29 June

Today One of the two signed up cane to the meeting. The two hours went fast. They were amazed at the information one can pull off 5 Generation Charts. The member had never used them for research before only filled them out. We used Phyllis Learned's Binders here that Gary Brock had said were the best documentation and presentation he had ever seen. I am going to use more of them. The amount of names mentioned floored me also. Since it has been some time since she passed. Suspecting at least 5 more people in society could use some of her information for the names we located and where. Also found information for Shirley Becker and Elizabeth Pentico while doing research. The 1790 Census has some interesting data collected for those states of that time. Used a different form of collection and will let you know what it spits our. Also found more data to send to Nebraska for those there. So why are we not looking at the 5 Generation Chart binders especially for the early members information. ? ? More to follow with some interesting names and places. We covered aabout 15 names and places. More to follow.

Five Generation Chart Time. Join us

This next meeting will be to get to know each others names, places and needs for help in research. Having learned and used this method in the past I am asking you to bring a 5 Gen Chart with you filled out as best you can. Goal is to learn where help is needed by all. WE have recent members and many older members and seems we all have blank spots and sometimes big holes in our tree. Mine seems to do more with females last names. Once in a while a newspaper article or someone elses genealogical data some one will be confirmed. Genealogy is not a quick to fix and answer event. In many ways, it is a life long event. When people kept Diaries we had ancestors who could reference back to earlier times. I have not written in mine in eons. Also if you have your computer or laptop bring it along if you have research data on it to help you. 1 to 3 pm. June 20 Bonita-Sunnyside Library, 4375 Bonita Rd. Bonita, Ca 91902 Educational Chairperson CVGS We hope to build on this theme for the summer. July 18th 1 to 3 pm August 22 1 to 3 pm Having learned we can have little meetings in between if interested, in patio area. I will probably be gone for end of August to a reunion if all goes well.
