Some Funny Quarantine Musings... Inbox x Lloyd W Roupe Apr 9, 2020, 8:14 PM (20 hours ago) to Lloyd Thought this was cute.  The last one pertains to Joe.   He has been excited on Tuesdays because he can take out the garbage… SUBJECT: Some Funny Quarantine Musings… Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem... I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe… I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator… Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom... PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom... Home-schooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job... I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone… This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her.  I came into my house, told my dog..... We laughed a lot... Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal.  I have no clue how this place is still in business... My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet... Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat... I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?.. Our cousin shared this... ENJOY. Thanks LLoyd R.

 Ok, It seems it has been awhile since commenting on these situations.

  1. Inheriting unnamed pictures.

  2. Partially named places and faces.

  3. Reunions you are not able to attend.


There is no better place than Facebook to work on these challenges.

 We did not have this available when I first started hunting answers.

 1. Take each photo not named, make a copy, black and white on printer. (did not use photo paper)

 2.  Put the pictures in groups as they may lay in the album, if in albums.
      2a.  You may want to include named pictures if they are next to unnamed for references to a
              family.  Especially groupings:  Jones, Sweet, Henderson, Hoffman, Plants, Ritchie.
      2b.  group as in Hoffman m Duvall, Hoffman/Huffman m Plants, Duvall m Ritchie, etc

 3.  Number them to reflect back to the album.

 4.  Send these black and white copies out to any and all family members you are aware of.
       4a. If they want a photo then you can scan and send them one via internet or mail.
       4b. Sometimes pictures can be more clear than on paper but start with least cost.

 5.  Especially if you hear of a Reunion that your surnames may be a part of. (No Matter where
      it may be held.)

 6.   I sent 10 pages to Iowa, got 6 back fully named and the others partially named.
      Alas, I needed one which remained unnamed.  Grandpa called her his GGG?Grandma
      last time in the Album. He couldn't remember how far back or her name.
      When I was smaller he named all these people but Mom did not want to write in this
      Album and we sure wished we had.  I was 18 last time we all went through that album and
      Mom wrote down every name he could remember.  We lost him a few years later.

       Repeated in Greene Co. PA and only got three more names. I have since blogged about
       the lady for the world to see. Alas right person not seen her yet.
 
      I studied about photography.  Originally 4 shots were taken to make it profitable.
      So if you have one somewhere there may be 3 more. In older times, families shared
      doing photos.   They moved it up to more photos as it became more popular. Very
      interesting to learn about it. ( I am also an Eastman Descendant).

      Recalling sets of 4, then 6 then 8 to 12. But check this out I remember over time the amount
      increased so someone out there may have another.  I thought this was awesome to learn. Had to
      do with paper design and cost.

      You can also compare family traits in pictures so you have idea what line they may belong to.
       High cheek bones, slanted eyes, ears protruding, small mouths, recessed chin, cow licks,
       toes webbed or partial,  high arch, no arch, wide feet, narrow heels, the list goes on.
       We have what Dad called Funky Fingers and Toes.   Little fingers tend to curve over next finger
        and second toe longer than big toe and partially webbed up to next toe.  Even our last great
       grandchild exhibited these signs.  I found many lines by tracking that until DNA came out
       and agreed with my observation, thanks to Dad be alert.
     
       Can you see family traits in the photos.

       Example:  In the photo we so badly wanted identified, the lady has very long arms, like my
       Mom.  Her hands were almost to her knees. This is not a normal trait.   Yes we know this lady
       came from SW PA, VA/WVA, MD.

       Or it may have come from Elizabeth HIGGIN's side, which is  WVA, VA, NY, MASS, England.
       This line also has Pocahontas in the lineage.

        We do not believe it comes from the SCOTT family from Virginia to KY to Iowa. Though recent
        upgrade of Grandma's dna said she had 10% Indian.  She did not know that I am sure.

        There were no Scott pictures in the album to our knowledge either.

       So put your surnames and tree information together with the unnamed photos and pass them
       around to same surname groups, distant family members, Xmas time, Easter time (since we all
       have more time now).

       Or make a page on Facebook of the unlabeled faces and places or join one that is already here.
       Get the word out that you have these pages for others to see.  Best of Luck.

Military Records--- please read this

Last month I shared at the meeting that there was a group that would get military type records at a different fee than our government.  Yes, I know, they are probably closed right now. Having located that information again I wanted to share it so you may be able to take advantage of it in the future.
